Rhea Dmaria Meets Kellyann and Missy

It's 11pm. Dmaria is right on schedule as always. She starts into her usual routine ER rounds.

"This night the ER is as busy as New York's Grand Central Station at rush hour", Rhea thought to herself.

She says

"Hi!"

to one of the ER's finest clients.

He swears,

"Honestly nurse, I only had one beer tonight"

"Is that right?” challenged Rhea.

"How about that empty vodka bottle in your sock. How do you suppose that got there; how do you account for that?" she ask, pointing at the incriminating evidence

"I can explain that. Can I have a sandwich and some coffee Nurse?"

"Billy Bob, when you surrender the rest of your stash, anything for you, honey"

So Billy Bob traded up his bottle of Gin for coffee and a cold snack.

As Dmaria pours Billy Bob his cup of coffee and hands him his roast beef sandwich, her heart goes out to the sweetest little angel clutching fast to her father. The little 4 year old was crumpled up in her father's loving protective embrace. The bubbly huddled little bundle, all but three feet tall, stood in his lap and she had her red flushed right cheek crushed up against her dad's right cheek. Luckily or unluckily, entrapped in between Kellyann and her Pappy, was a Big Hearted suffocating shaggy teddy. This insult did not seem to phase the brave brown shaggy teddy because some how he managed to keep up his happy smile while at the same time showing off his Big Red Heart covering up the center of the left side of his Huge Brown Chest. Kellyann's Pappy's huge girth easily engulfed both with the protective cocoon that was his body

"Pappy, please can we go home now? I forgot to refill Missy's Silk Milk Bowl"

 "Hush now, Kellyann. Not much longer now. Very soon you will be home with Missy. We will be going home soon my precious", promised Kellyann's Pappy.

She looks up at her Pappy and he sees her big brown eyes pooling up. Very soon now he expects an avalanche of tears to come flooding down those hot rosy cheeks of hers.

As she presses up against him, her red hot cheeks scorches his. Her Pappy, a grizzly bear of a man, wonders how much longer he'll be able to maintain this veneer of a brave and stoic front for his Kellyann. Has he hugs her closer, her frail body crushes him. She melts his Big Manly Pappy Heart, and he is about to transform into a Giant Lump of Putty in her hands.

"Pappy, please. Please say we can go now. Missy gets so fretful when we are a part for too long. Missy needs me now. She needs me to brush and groom her Silky Siamese Fur. Then I will listen to her kitty purrs and meow lullabies. Then Missy and me will snuggle together in my bed, then the two of us, Missy and me will cuddle up under our blanket. Then me and Missy will fall asleep and have sweet dreams."

"Look, she allowed Little Mitzy, her favorite teddy bear, to keep me company. But Missy said I needed to love and cherish her Little Mitzy just as much as I love and cherish Missy".

From thirty feet across the hallway, Dmaria, Kellyann and her Pappy locked eyes in a hypnotic embrace. Dmaria is irresistibly and involuntarily drawn towards the trio.

Rhea Dmaria walked up to Kellyann. and reaches out her hand but Kellyann retreats deeper into her Pappy's protective cocoon.

"Hi there, I am Rhea. That Teddy Care Bear of yours looks so happy cuddling up with you and your dad. You think he will let me pat his head?” Rhea requested 

"Little Mitzy is not a boy", Kellyann corrected Dmaria

" 'Little Mitzy', you gave her such a lovely name, Kellyann"

"She has a very sweet name of course but I did not name her 'Little Mitzy' "

"Then . . . your dad named her?"

"No. Pappy didn't name her"

(Kellyann whispered in her Pappy's left ear):  "Pappy who is that weird lady; she doesn't know anything?"

"Oh, that's just a nurse", explained Pappy.

"That's a real nurse!?" Exclaimed Kellyann

"Yes. What are those two letters on her shirt?"  Kellyann's Pappy asks his little buttercup.

"You mean, 'RN'. What do they mean. . . Oh I know, they stand for 'Real Nurse'! Aren't I right, Pappy?"

"Kellyann, you are the smartest 4 year old that has been in this ER!!", Rhea Dmaria squealed excitedly like a Four-Year-Old.

"Don’t tell me!! I know what that stands for 'Emergency Room'!! Isn't that right Pappy?"

"Let me introduce myself properly to the smartest little lady I have ever met: My name is Rhea Dmaria, RN (Real Nurse). Kellyann, I am so very honored to meet your acquaintance. I am so lucky to have met you,  your Pappy and your Teddy Care Bear, Little Mitzy. . ."

"Nurse Rhea?"

"Yes, Kellyann?"

"Little Mitzy does not belong to me"

"Little Mitzy belongs to. . . who . . . then, Kellyann? ", asked Rhea, perplexed.

"Little Mitzy belongs to Missy"

"Right . . .okay . . . Little Mitzy is a she and she belongs to. . .?"

(Kellyann whispers into her Pappy's right ear):

"Pappy. I do believe you that Nurse Rhea is a Real Nurse, but aren't real nurse's supposed to know everything?"

 (Pappy whispers into Kellyann's left ear):

"Kellyann, go easy on her, don't you see you are making Nurse Rhea nervous?"

"Gotcha, Pappy!", (Kellyann whispers into her Pappy's right ear).

"Nurse Rhea, let me explain things so you can understand. Missy is my bestest friend in this Whole Wide World. She is what is known as a Siamese Cat. We are never apart, except that I caught the 'Flu Bug', isn't that right, Pappy?"

"That's correct, Nurse Rhea. Kellyann is burning up some because of the bad flu bug. She was too sick to get her flu shots and that nasty flu bug snuck in and gave her a raging fever . . ."

"Okay, Pappy . . .Pappy . . . can you let me finish . . .?"

"Sorry, Kellyann, I apologize. please go ahead, you were saying . . ."

  "Yes.  Because Missy knows I'd be pining and longing for her company terribly, she asked her brown shaggy teddy bear, that's Little Mitzy here, to go along, look after me and to make sure I returned safely home to my Missy. Missy would trust no one else with her Little Mitzy but me, isn't that right, Pappy? "

"Yes. Nurse Rhea, she is quite right you know", confirmed Kellyann's Pappy.

"Little Mitzy, don't be shy. Say hello to Nurse Rhea. If one day you get the flu bug you are going to need a Real Nurse. So, say hello to Rhea Dmaria, RN. The 'RN'  you see pinned to her chest means she is a really Real Nurse".

"Kellyann, you just made me the happiest RN alive.  I can't wait to meet your BFF, Missy. I will tell Missy she is very lucky to have a friend such as you.

Now, let's scare away that cowardly flu bug, cool down that nasty fever that's making you sick , so Missy's  Little Mitzy, and your Pappy can hurry home with you, so you, Kellyann, and your Missy can be together again."
